Botswana 2016

For wildlife, Botswana is the very best and also the birding is great. To get the best out of this birding/game drive Safari we have chosen a “Mobile camping safari”. Our camp got taken down and put up by the staff at a different location every second or third day. Travelling we did by open game drive vehicle. It was an exciting tour and got us into areas where nature still holds sway over human activities.

As photographs will show the country suffered from a very dry period, which was affecting seriously nature and wildlife. The few places with water still available were frequented by big groups of animals. We found several cases of animals who did not survive.

It was really great to see the elusive Painted Dogs. This was a first for me and a highlight of this trip.

Although our main objective was to see the various Mammals we also were lucky with some very good shows of Birds. A displaying Kori Bustard, a couple of Lappet-faced Vultures and many other interesting species

Below a selection of photographs taken during this trip. Hovering over the image you will see a toolbar at the bottom where you can start a slideshow if you wish to do so.
